Alongside a virtual cohort of Oregon primary care providers (doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses), participants will learn to:
- Identify the signs of child physical abuse, including types of bruises/skin injuries, abdominal injuries, burns, sentinel injuries, head trauma, and fractures.
- Conduct an exam and identify patient and familial history elements that are concerning for child physical abuse.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities associated with Oregon’s county-based Designated Medical Providers and Children’s Advocacy Centers, Karly’s Law, the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline, and Child Protective Services when there are concerns of abuse.
ACCREDITATION: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of OHSU School of Medicine and Oregon Child Abuse Solutions.
