The issue of how to educate children and youth during the pandemic is one of the most significant current policy considerations for kids.  The AAP and national education groups are stressing the importance of safety considerations in reopening schools this fall and calling for federal funding of new protocols.

At OPS, we’ve heard a range of ideas and concerns from members and parents about when and how to re-open schools. Community policies are being discussed by the Oregon governor, school districts, education organizations, the medical community, and families. To better inform our recommendations, OPS hosted a July 22nd forum for all child health providers and those who work with schools to discuss the challenges of school re-entry.
