One-in-five emergency room visits are due to misunderstanding medication instructions. Starting Jan. 1, 2021, Oregon pharmacies are required to address this critical safety issue by providing prescription bottle labels in multiple languages. OPS member Kate Ballard, a pediatric nurse at OHSU, advocated for this law. On December 22, 2020, she joined OPB’s Think Out Loud to discuss why she pushed for this legislation and what it means for patients and families. Listen to the segment.
